In this video you'll learn the 3 biggest benefits of intermittent fasting I've experienced by applying it since 2010. Subscribe here https://www.youtube.com/subscription_... Intermittent fasting is a hot topic recently and a lot of people are raving about it. What most don't know is that IF has been around for decades, and the most famous approach the 16/8 fast has been around since 2008/2010. And there's a variety of other types of fasting diets, including the most researched one Alternate Day Fasting. And there's the Warrior diet which has a 4 hour eating window, and as well as a variety of Modified Alternate Day Fasting approaches that allow for only protein 1 day and then Ad Lib (whatever you want) on other days. All approaches can work for individuals, and it depends on personal preference. The 16 h fasting, 8 h eating window approach was first developed by Martin Berkhan who called it the LeanGains approach. https://www.leangains.com/2010/04/lea... Since 2010 I've experimented with Intermittent fasting and over the years I've distilled it down to a few key benefits it offers compared to the traditional meal frequency approach of eating 3-6 meals a day. One other important thing to keep in mind is that the daily calories and macros still have to be managed, and regardless of whether you're doing Intermittent Fasting you'll still gain weight in a caloric surplus or to lose weight you still need a caloric deficit. PS. If you have to train in a fasted state to optimize for muscle growth it's more important to get protein before/after the workout than the benefits of staying fasted. Key points: Benefit 1 - It's a great lifestyle approach to nutrition. Back in 2010 when LeanGains 16/8 approach become popular the majority of the fitness world (including me) was trapped in the dogma that you have to eat every 2-3 hours to optimize for muscle growth and fat loss. In practice this was a like being imprisoned by meal planning. I remember I was thinking about food and my next meal all the time and it made my life very hard. Not until the LeanGains approach did I realize that it's much more important to get your daily nutrition instead of focusing every 2-3 hours on getting a meal. Also I stopped worrying that I'll "lose all my gains" if I can't get a meal in. This was a huge thing, it meant I didn't have to carry Tupperware with chicken, broccoli and rice around with me all the time. And this allowed me the much needed freedom to enjoy life more and to worry about food less. Benefit 2 - Most people doing Intermittent fasting will feel less hungry on lower calories. And you can have bigger more satisfying meals. Essentially when you train your body to expect food within a narrow eating window you feel less hungry outside of that window. So after a few weeks of IF you'll notice that you have no issues doing the fast even though your total caloric intake is low. And this is big benefit when you're trying to lean down to low body fat as the calories might need to go down quite a bit. Hunger is one of the hardest things to deal with on a diet, and it's one of those things that makes dietary adherence much more difficult and IF really helps with that. I've talked about managing hunger with IF in-depth at • How To Deal With Hunger During Intermitten... Benefit 3 - Fasting is great for productivity and mental clarity. I get my best work done while fasting with some caffeine. You can choose either tea, coffee or even a caffeine supplement. This allows you to do great work and not having to worry about food. Also when you do eat food it's bigger meals and there's less of that brain fog. IF has increased my productivity tenfold in the last couple of years and I can't imagine doing work without it. This is a huge benefit because life isn't just about a six pack and muscle mass. It's about doing meaningful work and giving value to the world. Hope you guys enjoyed!
