We left our urban life in Belgium for the countryside of southwest France, where we’re restoring a 200-year-old abandoned farm as a small family. Our dream is to bring the buildings back to life, grow our own food, and build a life close to nature. Here’s everything that happened in our second year. Year 2 → Year 1: Curious how it all began? From massive excavation works to restore drainage around the barns, to tackling water management across the property, to building our driveway out of the mud, this year was about turning big challenges into long-term solutions. Along the way we dug out the hill behind the barns to stop water damage and prepare space for a future pond. We discovered forgotten relics including a 1960s McCormick tractor and began restoring it in our neighbor Claude’s workshop. We faced the breakdown and eventual rebuild of our old Thwaites dumper, a true workhorse from the 1980s. We planned ahead for barn roof renovations and prepared materials to safeguard the buildings. We expanded our garden and planted fruit trees, laying down roots to slowly provide for our growing family. And we made space for dreams of the future, from a campsite to restoring old water systems. Through it all, we learned patience, perseverance, and the art of taking each day as it comes. The future is bright. We will soon be out of the mud, tackling the barn roof, and welcoming our second child, all while continuing the renovation of this forgotten farm. 👉 Subscribe to follow our journey as we keep restoring, rebuilding, and growing, one step at a time. 🙏 Thank you to our subscribers for being part of our journey and supporting us every step of the way! °°° Our Story: We're Philippe, Anicia and our little explorer is Odin. In the summer of 2023, we left the comforts of our lives in Belgium and purchased an old farmhouse in the south of France, specifically in the Dordogne region. We produce weekly videos documenting our progress on the property, with the ultimate goal of renovating it and restoring it to its former glory. Join us on our journey of transforming this French homestead as we aim for a simpler, yet more fulfilling life closer to nature. We'll be expecting our second child soon (in November 2025)! #france #homestead #offgrid #farmhouse #movingtofrance #frenchcountry #renovation #renovationproject #countryside #livinginfrance #building #countrylife #restoration #slowlife #youngfamily #renovatinginfrance #restoration #excavation #frenchcountryside #frenchfarmhouse #slowliving #offgridliving #barn #barnrenovation #wildlifecam #building #slowlife #slowliving #hardwork #family #bobcat #vegetablegarden #restoration #mccormick #thwaites #thwaitesdumper #dumper #dumpertruck #bobcat #timelapse #timelapses #twoyearresults #transformation #beforeandafter #transformationjourney °°° MUSIC | We use epidemic sounds for our music: https://www.epidemicsound.com/music/f...
