Rare NEMC 60” Industrial Ceiling Fan | Pre Restoration!

Let’s just admit it. Some of us fan collectors have fans that are only available in neigboring/far away countries in our wishlists. I’m not immune to it either, I do have Australian, Singaporean and Malaysian fans in my wishlist, and although this particular fan isn’t actually something I’m actively looking for, I’m not someone who’s gonna turn down a great opportunity when it presents itself. Yep, you read the title right. This isn’t a DEMC, this is a Malaysian made & Malaysian exlusive NEMC industrial ceiling fan, model SCF60! And of course it’s 60 inches in diameter because no Malaysians will accept anything smaller when it comes to fullsize industrial ceiling fans apparently. I got this fan off of Facebook Marketplace, the ad aired just 5 hours before I saw it & swooped in. The seller lives just half an hour by car away, but due to a large number of road construction in their town as of this video’s filming, I’m unable to personally pick this fan up. I had to go through a ton of headache to get this fan to my place since the seller wasn’t willing to go out & ship it at first, but that’s not something I regret at all. Information about this fan is scarce at best. There are only 3 Malaysian YouTubers as of now who have videos of NEMC ceiling fans as far as I know, and those fans aren’t even the same model & generation as mine. But thanks to a great friend & fellow fan collector;‪@TheMatsushitaMan‬ , I can get some slices of detail about this fan. I’ll put those details on the full demonstration video of this fan, but let’s talk about facts for now. This fan uses DEMC made speed controllers, capacitors & design cues, similar to Canada’s 4 Saisons industrials which use DEMC motors & controllers on some models. The blades on this fan is made of steel which I find interesting, DEMC used aluminium for fans with this blade shape which makes them a lot lighter & will not rust. The motor is much heavier than every single ceiling fan motor in my collection, so as the downrod, which is thick cast iron. It uses a 10uF 240V rated capacitor, and the airflow pattern is unusual for a straight bladed industrial. You don’t really feel that much air right under the fan, but it makes the room feel like a massive wind storm, which is something that can’t be said about 2nd iteration Panasonic EY153 & EY1511. There isn’t that much to do to make this fan look brand new. I only need to swap the bearings & maybe the capacitor, give the thing a fresh coat of paint after stripping the old paint off, make a center cap for the motor which is currently missing, print out new stickers for the canopy & motor spec label as both are covered with paint, and fix the motor insulation & wiring as power is leaking from somewhere.
