In a major step forward for low-emissions logistics, a fully electric Renault Trucks E-Tech T has successfully completed the first-ever cross-Channel freight journey by ferry, transporting commercial goods from the UK to France. Kuehne+Nagel led this international operation, supported by P&O Ferries’ new hybrid vessel, P&O Liberté, which emits 40% less CO₂e than conventional ferries. 📍 From East Midlands Gateway (UK) to Amiens (France) ⚡ 1,100 km of real-life, low-emissions logistics 🌊 Crossed the Channel via the Dover–Calais route 🔋 Reloaded and recharged in France before the return journey This milestone shows that battery-electric heavy-duty trucks can now deliver operational performance on real international routes, supporting the shift towards low-carbon supply chains in Europe. The road to zero-emission logistics starts here This operation also demonstrates the potential of the Dover–Calais corridor as a low-carbon trade route, reinforcing the role of ferries in enabling sustainable international transport with electric heavy-duty trucks. By proving the technical feasibility and reliability of such a journey, this initiative aims to boost confidence in electromobility and inspire wider adoption of electric trucks.
