Hundred firefighters tackle blaze involving tyres at factory Firefighters from West Midlands Fire Service responded to a significant fire at a commercial premises on Great Bridge Street, #WestBromwich, on Sunday 27 July. In a statement the fire service confirmed that at the height of the incident they had over a hundred firefighters and over twenty appliances on scene. They have said “We were mobilised at 10.41am and the first of our crews arrived in just over two minutes. “Fifteen fire engines were in attendance, along with several specialist resources including aerial ladder platforms, a high-volume pump, and a drone team. “Crews are making good progress, supported by colleagues from West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service. “The fire involves a single-storey factory unit measuring approximately 100m by 100m. “A full evacuation of the premises took place and no casualties were reported. Utility companies were requested to attend to isolate gas and electricity, and structural engineers have also been called to assess the site. “Our fire service drone team, alongside a hydraulic aerial platform, are supporting our teams in monitoring fire spread and aiding tactical decision-making. “We thank local residents and businesses for their cooperation and patience while we worked to bring the fire under control. Please avoid the area, where you can. At 4pm the fire service issued the following update “Our crews are continuing to tackle the fire, with good progress being made. “Gas and electricity engineers are in attendance and isolating affected supplies, where possible. We’re still being supported by partner agencies. “We expect this incident will be ongoing into the evening.
