It's just over 50km if you cycle from Dingle to Tralee via the Conor Pass the detour through Castlegregory. In this segment of my journey along Eurovelo 1 between Kenmare and Limerick city I set out from Dingle for an early morning ascent of the Conor Pass. I talk about the new Páirc Náisiúnta na Mara Ciarraí national park created this summer which includes the lands around the pass, the Skelligs and several other significant parcels of land and sea. The IRA ambush that took place in 1921 where two RIC were killed. Mount Brandon which forms one side of the pass and is associated with Brandon the Navigator - presumably because it's visible well out to sea and its links to Lughnasadh. The Killiney burial grounds and its ancient stone crosses from the 7th century, almost a high cross. The ghost who used to lurk near here and tax fishermen on their way from Dingle to Tralee. A murderous tale of Sir Walter Raleigh in Castlegregory. The legends of Caherconree mountain about the sorcerer king Cú Roí Mac Daire and Cú Chulainn, Killelton Church and finally the desperate need for a safe greenway cycling route from Tralee to Camp because that stretch of national road is one of the worst in the country You'll find my route map on Cycle Travel at https://cycle.travel/map/journey/756537 You'll find the entire playlist of the Eurovelo1 routes in Ireland at • Eurovelo 1 in Ireland - complete timelapse...
