Doug Woolverton is a Grammy-nominated trumpet player who has performed with Victor Wainwright and the Train; Beginnings, a Chicago Tribute band; the Shari Puorto band; and the Bender Brass. He was in high school when his family moved from Trenton, New Jersey to Appleton, Minnesota where he graduated in 1999. There, he and his father the Rev. Paul Woolverton created a local jazz band that performed regularly in the west central region. After attending college in Aberdeen, Woolverton went on to play trumpet and lead bands at a global level, often performing as many as 280 times a year. He still returns to the Appleton area occasionally and the Pioneer PBS Postcards team caught up with him there for this story. Doug Woolverton | Season 13, Episode 10 | Aired 4/14/22 Postcards is an award-winning series showcasing the arts, history, and cultural heritage of western Minnesota and beyond.
