He gives an excellent description of the symptoms that can show up in patients with Chiari, particularly the symptoms just recently being understood such as gastrointestinal distress, cognitive deficits and others. Dr. Oró also describes some other disorders that may cause headaches and other similar symptoms to Chiari. The presence of these conditions might help explain why an original Chiari decompression would not have helped the patient the first time around. Two of the disorders that he goes into more detail about are called idiopathic intracranial hypertension (or IIH, also called "pseudotumor cerebri") and spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH). This lecture was given at the Aurora, CO CSF Chapter meeting on January 31, 2018.
