A major fan-made overhaul for Resident Evil 3 aims to significantly expand the remake's content. The mod The Last Escape, currently in development, restores several areas that were missing from the final release, as well as introducing entirely new areas to explore. Resident Evil 3 follows the tradition of its predecessors. The scenarios and the tense, dark atmosphere remain very similar to those of Resident Evil 2. Although the story takes place earlier, there is a noticeable evolution in the visual aspect, with more detailed graphics, a smoother and more realistic look. The gameplay remains similar, but some differences deserve highlighting, such as the "auto-aiming" – which greatly helps by avoiding wasted ammunition – and the special dodge the character performs when attacked at close range. Another interesting point in Resident Evil 3 is the various possible combinations of gunpowder types found throughout the game, which produce different ammunition for the weapons. What can increase the tension for newcomers is the surprise of having to make a decision at important moments in the game, especially when Nemesis appears. The consequences of each choice are unpredictable, which makes the game different if the player wants to replay it.
