Modern synth sounds, heavy drums, fat bass, and catchy melodic hooks are staples of their independent studio, Dub Farm Records. While the group is heavily influenced by modern American reggae bands like John Browns Body, Slightly Stoopid, and The Expanders, they maintain a deep appreciation for roots reggae pioneers like Peter Tosh, Culture, and Lee Scratch Perry. Stylie announced their entry into the fast growing American reggae scene by putting a fresh spin on the classic genre with the release of their debut album, Flyin’ High. The self produced album was released on March 27th, 2020 via their independent label Dub Farm Records. The six song album is fresh and full of life, a big nod to classic reggae with a modern twist. The powerful first track “Sweet Reggae Music” is a love song to the genre itself, showing the band’s dedication to the artform. The title track “Flyin’ High”, takes the listener on a hilariously ill-fated airline journey under the influence of high grade edibles.
