MMS 173 Self-Introduction

As a journalist, I travel to tell stories of different people, most especially the Filipino community in Europe. I have been a correspondent for almost a decade now covering stories in North Italy and neighboring countries. I take a lot of videos and only a few photos that I use for my online articles. Photos that accompany stories. Basically small, medium,large, vertical and horizontal pictures. I was trained to shoot for the eyes and aim for the heart at least in journalism. But I think that this can also work in photography as they say you must learn to look with the "eyes of a photographer" and no longer with your own eyes. A photographer friend once told me it is not easy and it will take time but when our eyes are trained we will notice things that we would have NEVER taken into consideration before. We just have to look around us calmly and curiously. The world is full of inspiration. We don't need to go far from home to find inspiration, just go out and look around. I am lucky because I live in Europe which offers fantastic photo opportunities. It dominates in the top 10 UNESCO countries with an impressive 226 sites across Italy, Germany, Spain, France and the UK. I am based in Italy which has the most UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the world. As the birthplace of the Roman Empire and the Renaissance, Italy has an abundance of culture: 53 of its 58 sites are cultural and 5 are natural. I would like to share some photos I took during my travels. I used different cameras and phones in taking the photos so the resolution varies. Photography today has the wind in its sails. However, few people like me are really able to master photographic technique and produce truly artistic shots. It is for this reason that I look forward to learning and discovering a lot about photography and eventually develop a personal method, which will allow me to express my ideas and put me in a position to communicate in another way with the world.
