KNF E-1 - 2025.12.15 - Our first view of egg #1 for Anna II & Louis II - Congratulations!!!

Kisatchie National Forest E-1: The cams went down just before midnight on 12/13/2025 during a thunderstorm and did not come back online until almost 9:45 am on 12/15/2025. When the cams came up we found E1-F3 laying in the nest. Less than 15 minutes later she stood up and we got our first sighting of her very first ever egg. Steve, KNF's District Wildlife Biologist, bestowed the names Louis II and Anna II on the pair, formerly known as E1-M2 & E1-F3. Congratulations!!!!! We've waited so long for this egg! The pair showed up and claimed the nest on 1/18/2024. So, we've waited almost 2 years for the egg and them to get their names. It is presumed that she laid the egg sometime on 12/14/2025. Louis II & Anna II are turning 5 years old sometime between December 2025 and March 2026 - based on them both having a couple of longer (retained juvenile) secondary feathers in January 2024 when they first showed up, aging them at 3 years old and also based on Louisiana's egg laying range of November through February.
