Political Psychology of Active Non-Violence

In this lecture, Dr. Montiel discusses active non-violence, and strategies for non-violent interventions. Cristina Montiel is a professor of peace/political psychology and has been with Ateneo de Manila University for more than 40 years. She received the 2010 Ralph White Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Psychological Association’s Peace Psychology Division. In 2016, she was recognized by the Psychological Association of the Philippines as their Outstanding Psychologist. She has published around 100 peer-reviewed academic papers on topics like Mindanao peacebuilding and a psychology of democratic transitions. She has also been a consultant for the Philippine government’s Commission on Human Rights, and the Office of the Presidential Adviser for the Peace Process.
