Industrial risk mitigation through the use of Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing, known as DFOS. This webinar provides an overview of DFOS technology methods, critical infrastructure applications and use cases. DFOS Technology Methods Overview • DTS - Temperature sensing • DSS - Strain sensing • DSTS - Strain and Temperature sensing • DAS/DVS - Acoustic/ Vibration sensing • Fiber Optic Cable - Existing vs Dedicated cables Critical Infrastructure Applications and Use Cases • Fire/Linear Heat Detection (LHD) Systems • Power Cables • Pipelines (Hydrocarbon, Water, Ammonia, LNG) • Upstream applications • Rail applications • Civil Structures Presented by FOSA Technology Chair Dr. Gareth Lees. Dr. Lees has over 26 years’ experience working in photonics starting in 1993 at BT labs, UK. This was followed by a PhD in Optical Fiber Sensing from the Optoelectronics Research Center, University of Southampton, then a number of research positions with HP, Bookham and more recently Engineering Manager at Schlumberger Fiber Optics Technology Center. Dr. Lees is currently the Chief Technology Officer for AP Sensing. He has served as FOSA Technology Committee Chair for two years.
