Watch how to change spark plugs on a Jeep grand cherokee srt with #fred_eazy21 Changing the spark plugs on a Jeep srt8 will be similar on the trackhawk and Jeep grand cherokee with the 5.7L hemi. For the 2019 Jeep grand cherokee srt the maintenance schedule for the spark plugs is every 160,000km or every 100,000 miles Today we installed the NGK 97408 Laser Platinum; Pre-Set Gap: 0.044" Part #LZTR6AP11EG on the Jeep srt 392 hemi. Toolsfor this process are: ⅝ Spark plug socket 10mm socket for the ignition coil bolts 3/8 Ratchet Universal Joint An assortment of ratchet extensions dielectric grease 16 Spark plugs lmao Torque wrench to torque spark plugs to 13 ft lbs or 156 inch pounds 1) Alright let's get it. First thing to do is go ahead and pop the hood and locate one set of the spark plugs. 2) Next let's remove the 2- 10mm retaining bolts holding the ignition coil. Depending on the location of the cylinder head you may need a short or longer ratchet extension depending on what is in the way at each particular cylinder. 3) Now let's remove the ignition coil and move it out of the way. 4) Next let us get our ⅝ spark plug socket and make sure the rubber grommet is inside the ⅝ spark plug socket, it will hug and hold the spark plug allowing it to be brought up. Now Attach the ⅝ spark plug socket to an extension and ratchet and go ahead and unscrew the spark plug and bring it up. Again Depending on the location of the cylinder head you may need a short or longer ratchet extension depending on what is in the way. 5) After that grab the new spark plug, these ones are pre-gapped but if you would like an extra check you can use a spark plug gap tool to double check the gap. The OEM gap on the hemis is 0.041 to 0.044 inches. Now throw the new spark plug into the ⅝ spark plug socket and go ahead and screw the new spark plug back in until it is snug tight. If you prefer using a torque wrench the torque specs are 13ft lbs for the spark plugs in the hemi. 6) After that throw some dielectric grease at the end of the spark plug boot and install it back on the new spark plug. 7) Next do the same thing on the spark plug which the ignition coil sits on. 8)After that put the ignition coil back onto the new spark plug and install the 2 - 10mm retaining bolts on the ignition coil. Great you have now replaced 2 spark plugs on the first cylinder! 9) Once the first cylinder head is done with the 2 spark plugs replaced and ignition coil re-installed. Go ahead and repeat the process for the rest of the 7 Cylinder heads. 10) Ok so finally once everything is buttoned up and put back together lets give it a start and hear that baby Purr!!!
