On March 4, 2024, officers responded to Bicentennial Park in reference to an attempted vehicle burglary involving a female suspect carrying a yellow bag, wearing a black sports bra and gray sweatpants. The suspect reportedly blocked a driver from backing out of a parking space and reached into another occupied vehicle. Officers recognized the individual from prior encounters earlier that same day. Upon arrival, the suspect was seen walking through the park. Despite repeated commands to stop, she continued toward the pier, then doubled back and attempted to enter the front driver’s door of a marked patrol vehicle. A bystander witnessed the attempt and alerted officers. The suspect then ran to a nearby white 2013 Dodge and pulled on the driver’s door handle in an apparent attempt to gain entry. Officers believed she was trying to steal the vehicle to flee the area. After continuing to evade commands, she ran into a nearby business suite before exiting again and fleeing toward Northlake Drive and East Ocean Avenue. Officer Waldkoetter ultimately intercepted the suspect. While attempting to take her into custody, the suspect bit the officer’s left hand between the thumb and index finger, causing bleeding. A struggle ensued, resulting in additional injuries to the officer’s right knee, elbow, and foot. The suspect was eventually restrained and taken into custody. A vehicle owner confirmed that the suspect did not have permission to enter his vehicle. Another witness reported observing the suspect for about an hour, pulling on the handles of approximately six vehicles. The witness also saw her open the doors of two vehicles that were occupied by drivers. The suspect was transported to the police department. Based on the investigation, she was charged with: Battery on a law enforcement officer Two counts of attempted vehicle burglary Resisting arrest with violence Resisting arrest without violence #bodycam #police #cops #bwc #policebodycamera #copcam #copcar #arrest #arrested #bwc 📢 Legal & Content Disclaimer The individuals featured in this video are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
