There are several things that could cause your Nest Thermostat to have a low battery. Typically Nest low batteries are caused by your HVAC system not putting out enough power, or by an issue with your HVAC system that has cut off the power supply to the Nest Thermostat. How To Charge Nest Thermostat Video: • How To Charge Nest Thermostat To fix Nest Low battery or Nest Low Power issues there are a few common ways to fix the low power issue. 1. The easiest method to fix a nest low power issue is to try charging the Nest using the built in charging port on the back side of the Nest. This will typically work for a Nest Thermostat that has sat in a box to long or the power to your HVAC system has been turned off for an extended period of time. 2. If charging the Nest doesn't work you can then connect a common wire to your HVAC system. Some thermostat wires will have an extra wire run with the thermostat wire that you can connect to the C terminal on the HVAC system and the C terminal on the Nest Thermostat. If you don't have an extra wire you with the thermostat wiring you can add another wire connected from the C terminal on the HVAC system to the Nest Thermostat. 3. If adding a common wire doesn't work your HVAC system is either not compatible or is not putting out enough power to power the Nest Thermostat and a common wire transformer might be needed.
