Carlos Banon/Hybrid Horizons - Towards A New Design Intelligence

Carlos Banon, co-founder of Subarquitectura Architects Spain and Associate Professor of Architecture and Sustainable Design at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Carlos is also the co-founder of AirLab @SUTD and holds an M.Arch. with Extraordinary Distinction. He has held visiting professorships at prestigious institutions such as MIT and EPFL, and has been invited to lecture at numerous universities including ETSAM Madrid, UIC Barcelona, KEA Copenhagen, and PUPR Puerto Rico. Carlos' research projects cover a wide range of topics, from Geometric Exploration for Space Making (GESM) and 3D Printing applied to building components, to Artificial Intelligence in high-rise developments and Affordable Housing prototypes. He seamlessly integrates his research and teaching methodologies in Design Studios, applying Parametric Design to actual buildings through his architectural practice. Carlos has received numerous accolades, including the Design of the Year Prize from the London Design Museum, international recognition with the Golden Medal from the International Olympic Committee, the Spanish Biennial Prize, and a nomination for the Mies Van der Rohe Prize. In this session titled "Towards A New Design Intelligence," Carlos will discuss innovative ways of collaborating with AI in the design process.
