On the 28th of September 2021, Steam Dreams ran a railtour from London Victoria to Penzance in Cornwall. The tour was called Steam Dreams To Cornwall and was hauled by LMS Jubilee 45596 Bahamas and LNER Thompson Class B1 61306. Bahamas had been on holiday from the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for some time now, venturing along the South mainline and Nene Valley Railway. The tour starts well as the duo approach and passes through Clapham Junction, Mayflower blowing off some steam as they did so, the weather was fine and I was looking forward to seeing the two later on in Devon, clear skies and all....boy was I wrong! The next shot was at Tiverton Parkway and as you can guess, by this stage of the day, the heavens had opened and a torrential downpour had begun. I was beginning to think Devon was just trying to make a Yorkshire man feel at home or something...you didn't have to guys. My go away camera shot had its lens drenched as I waited for the service to speed its way through (I wiped it a moment beforehand) yet the rain was so bad, it didn't make a difference but I'm including it anyway because it reiterates just what sort of day I have had. We also get a glimpse of two diesel units passing shortly afterward, also heading to Exeter which was a nice little bonus. Finally, we catch the duo at Dawlish, which was misty, wet, and cold but for an hour, I waited for them to arrive as this was a shot I have always wanted to do. I personally wouldn't have minded a bit of sun by the seaside and for visibility and all but I had to take what I was given. I did the best I could do with this shot and I'm proud that I've been able to film here, Bahamas and Mayflower were amazing today in this terrible weather. Shame the weather became nice shortly after they had passed me by...typical if you ask me. I hope you have enjoyed this video, filmed by a drowned rat all the way from Yorkshire.
