Kim Stanley Robinson and Ken MacLeod talk Climate Change and Science Fiction. And Scotland in Space.

During the UN Climate Change Conference, or COP26 (1-12 November, 2021), the eyes of the world were on Glasgow, Scotland, where nations, civil-society groups and activists are meeting to determine the shape of global action in the face of the climate crisis. At this moment, perhaps more than any other, we need creatively expansive thinking about possible futures—stories that help us chart a path towards a just, equitable, sustainable global civilization. This event is hosted by Shoreline of Infinity, an award-winning magazine of science fiction and fantasy headquartered in Scotland, and the Center for Science and the Imagination at Arizona State University (CSI). It brings together four conversations between participants in CSI’s Climate Imagination Fellowship and authors, advocates, and scholars based in Scotland. This resulted in a video created online (due to Covid restrictions), "Cli-Mates: Climate Futures Conversations from Scotland" which you can watch at    • Cli-Mates: Climate Futures Conversati...   Kim Stanley Robinson (Davis, California), author of The Ministry for the Future and New York 2140, in conversation with Ken MacLeod (Gourock, Scotland), author of the Fall Revolution series and The Execution Channel, recorded their piece together in Edinburgh in November 2021. Robinson was in Scotland for COP-26. The first 15 minutes of their recording was used as part of the Cli-Mates video. As you might expect, their conversation continued, and was recorded.
