The Pilates Supine Hip Abduction exercise really works to support and strengthen the hip by working on the abductor muscles and glut med. It is a great beginner’s exercise for anyone just starting Pilates. It is also highly recommended for hip rehabilitation after a hip replacement. Don't do hip abduction until at least 3-6 weeks after your operation. Please consult your medical consultant or physiotherapist before doing hip abduction after a hip replacement.
