This is a video demonstration with the steps to set up the recording of cash tips to employees in Sage 50 US Accounting. Note: The Tips and Meals field names cannot be used unless they were selected during the original payroll wizard setup. If you are creating these fields after payroll has already had the initial setup, then you will have to create MyMeals or CashTips to have a different field name than Tips or Meals. 1. Select Maintain, Payroll, and then Employee Defaults. 2. Select the Employee Fields tab. 3. Under the Field Name column, enter MyMeals and/or CashTips as needed. 4. If tip income is not paid to the employee on paychecks, then check the Memo box for each line. Note: The Memo field logs meals and tips for reporting and tax calculations only 5. Select OK. 6. Select Maintain, Payroll, and then Employee Defaults. 7. Select the Employee Fields tab. 8. Select the Adjust button at the end of the Fed_Income line. Note: Selecting the Adjust button for Fed_Income makes sure the amounts reported for Meals and/or Tips are included in the totals for FIT when W2s are created. The same is the case for all other fields Meals and/or Tips should affect. 9. In the Employee Field Names field, check the Use column for both MyMeals and/or CashTips. 10. Select OK to close the Adjust screen. 11. Repeat Steps 6 through 10 to modify the Adjust button for Soc_Sec, MEDICARE, and State. 12. If there are other local taxes that need to include these wages, modify the adjust button on that line. 13. Select the Company Fields tab, and then repeat Steps 6 through 10 to modify the Adjust button to include MyMeals and/or CashTips on each of the following lines: Soc_Sec_ER, Medicare_ER, FUTA_ER, and SUI_ER. 14. If you have additional employer-paid taxes that need to include these wages, modify the Adjust button on that line. 15. Select OK to save those changes and close the Employee Defaults window. 16. Select Maintain, Payroll, Payroll Settings. 17. Select Taxes, Assign Tax Fields, W-2 fields. 18. Select the arrow next to Social Security Tips, and then select My Meals and/or CashTips. 19. Select OK. 20. Select Finish to close the screen.
