You'll never guess what visited my Quarry Tawny Owl Box!

I am still in shock! Last night the most wonderful visitor turned up at Gwyllt Hollow! This stunning male barn owl visited my tawny box and had a very serious look around. Now why am I shocked you may ask? Well, this is quite a wooded area and not a space I would really expect to see barn owls. Also, I have never seen or heard them around my garden, so they were somewhat off of my radar! This guy obviously spotted the entrance hole and certainly had a good look around, so I am hoping he will return to the garden. I started building a barn owl box today and it will be erected facing a field next to my garden. Now I know they are around, it is certainly worth a try as they take very readily to nest boxes and this one is not really suitable for them, as it is not very deep.
