Numerous, maybe infinite numbers of tennis instructors repeatedly tell their students to Turn their shoulders for forehand volleys Keep the racket head up and at EYE LEVEL Put your hands together "like you are in hand cuffs" Don't swing at volleys Put your head close to the racket head. (pleas do not do this) You must be in Continental to have a great volley And 1000 more coaching cues that will only hurt your tennis and maybe even hurt you. No kidding. DO NOT FOLLOW THE "KEEP YOUR HEAD AND RACKET HEAD CLOSE' OR KEEP THE VOLLEY AT EYE LEVEL. Pros giving this advice are good pros and they mean well but somewhere along the journey, they lost their map. The number of times I have heard and witnessed pros give this forehand volley advice is huge. Zverev took the advice, and so did most humans born after 1990. They got sucked into the wrong theory of skill acquisition. One based on forms and not functions. The big 3 were all born pre 1990 and did not train in the same biomechanical 3d slow motion analysis way the lost generation has....No other time in any sport have the apex predators (djokovic, nadal, fed) NOT been replaced by younger generations....the big 3 inherited an extinction level event of skilled tennis players. Nobody replaced them. They aged out or are retiring on top. And this did not just happen in tennis.......... #tennis
