Why Is Emir Wearing Headphones All The Time? | Autism & Sound Sensitivity Explained

In today’s vlog we talk about something many of you have been asking about… why Emir has started wearing headphones all the time. As many of you know, Emir is autistic. Recently he has developed a new sensitivity to sound, which means certain everyday noises can feel overwhelming for him. Because of this, he now prefers to wear his ear defenders when he’s out and about so he can feel calm and comfortable. Autistic children and teenagers can sometimes experience sensory sensitivities, including sensitivity to sound, light, or busy environments. Emir has always managed well before, but now that he’s 13 we’ve noticed this new change and we’re learning together how to support him.
