So, this is my VERY FIRST time in my lifetime getting stuck in an elevator! Here's the full scenario: My parents and I are visiting a friend of ours who recently purchased a unit in the apartment complex that is located on one of the top floors. We have two pieces of luggage and we are all carrying a backpack. There are two cabs and both of them serve all floors. We entered elevator #2 (the one on the right) and selected the desired floor. After the door fully closed as normal, we then had a random conversation amongst each other for a few seconds before I noticed that the elevator isn't moving and our selected floor got cancelled. We pressed the door open button, and the door only opened up for about a few inches. We kept pressing it for a few more times but the door wouldn't budge. We then used the emergency phone button and told the security guard that we're stuck in the elevator. I started shooting before the guard started asking more questions. Before he hung up, he told us that he'll send help and would call us back via the elevator phone within the next ten minutes for an update. He also told us to stand clear of the doors and not to pry it open. After about 10 minutes, we pressed the emergency phone button again and a different guard answered the phone. My mom told him all of what happened and asked him for any updates regarding the situation. The guard told us that he'll send the fire department over to rescue us, but he wasn't sure how long it'll take. Then he hung up and we kept waiting for about 5 more minutes when the firemen came. They used the drop key to open the shaft door and pried open the inner door and let us out. The total time we were stuck in the elevator was about 20 minutes. Luckily, nobody was hurt and nobody needed to use the restroom. The firemen then tried to send the elevator up to a different floor. It turned out that the elevator is completely broken. We then took the other car up and successfully made it to the selected floor. As from what we've heard, these elevators have been experiencing MANY issues regarding their operations where one or both cars get stuck on a floor, which can be a HUGE problem for many people, especially when it appears that these have been modded.
