These videos are not created by, CONTROLLED BY, PAID FOR, OR OWNED BY any training organisation. I developed them independently to help security officers who have problems understanding the course materials due to language or educational barriers thus allowing them to upskill and pass Assessments. Meeting MySkillsFuture (SSG) and industry requirements. They are freely available to anyone—Trainers, Trainees, and even Training Agencies. General information Polwel(AAO) have asked me to remove the original videos on the grounds that assessments are confidential. However, WSQ industry assessments have never been treated as confidential documents. They simply test whether a person has learned and understands standard industry knowledge and procedures. I believe Polwel’s request stems from MySkillsFuture (SSG) policy, which prohibits Polwel (AAOs) from sharing assessment information or updates with training organisations. This policy deviates from normal assessment practices in schools, universities, and polytechnics, where assessment criteria and sample questions are routinely shared to prepare students. Impact on Training Organisations By restricting the flow of assessment information, this policy: • Prevents trainers from accurately preparing students for real-world scenarios • Creates a disconnect between classroom instruction and industry expectations • Undermines the very purpose of competency-based training These videos bridge that gap by translating assessment requirements into practical guidance tailored for active security officers. Disconnect Between Policy and Industry Reality The root issue is a mismatch between MySkillsFuture’s theoretical framework and the operational needs of security companies: • MySkillsFuture seems to assume all learners are 20-year-olds seated in large lecture halls with A-level qualifications. • The security industry recruits a diverse workforce across ages and educational backgrounds. • in January 2025, two SSG representatives at the PLRD meeting at Cantonment Complex were visibly out of their depth, highlighting their lack of firsthand industry experience or Knowledge. Recent Policy Changes and Their Consequences Over the past few years, MySkillsFuture (SSG) has reshaped the training landscape in ways that favour specific institutions: 1. Introduction of funding tiers with uneven support 2. Removal of popular SkillsFuture courses 3. Withdrawal of funding based on undisclosed course criteria 4. Scheduled removal of training grants for many WSQ courses in December 2025 These shifts exacerbate the challenges training organisations face in keeping their curriculum aligned with both regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Conclusion I created these videos to address the growing chasm between SSG’s policies and the realities of the security profession. They offer transparent, practical insights into assessment standards, ensuring that security officers are both qualified on paper and ready for duty on the ground. I remain committed to supporting the community by keeping these resources freely accessible.
