Beloved in Christ, Grace and peace to you as we gather for this sacred and joy-filled occasion. Today, South Euclid United Church of Christ celebrates A Service of Ordination: Ordaining the Called and Honoring the Faithful. This service holds together what God so often weaves together in the life of the Church: new beginnings and enduring legacy, fresh calling and faithful witness. Our theme for this service is Undeniable Call. Indescribable Christ. Unwavering Love for God’s People. These words name the heart of what we celebrate today. God continues to call. Christ continues to guide and sustain. And love for God’s people remains at the center of all faithful ministry. Today, we rejoice in the ordination of Minister Alisha Carrie Young, a pivotal and holy moment in her journey of faith and service. Ordination is not the beginning of her calling, but the public affirmation of what God has already been cultivating in her life. We honor the strong Baptist foundation that has shaped her faith, theology, and love for the Church, and we give thanks for the grounding she has received through that tradition. It is our hope and prayer that today builds upon that solid foundation as she continues to grow, lead, and serve with courage and conviction in this next season of ministry. At the same time, we pause to honor those whose faithfulness has shaped this sacred community over many years. Today, we give thanks for the faithful service of our deacons who are being recognized with emeritus status. Their leadership, wisdom, and steadfast commitment have strengthened this church and blessed countless lives. Honoring the faithful is holy work, and we do so with deep respect and gratitude. We are also profoundly thankful for Reverend Dr. Alyn E. Waller, Senior Pastor of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, who has graciously accepted our invitation to preach for this service. His presence is especially meaningful as both a trusted voice in the wider Church and as family. We are grateful that he has carved out time to be with us and to speak a word over Min. Alisha on such a significant day. May this service remind us all that the Church is built by those who answer God’s call and sustained by those who remain faithful across the seasons. May we leave this place renewed in our commitment to serve Christ and to love God’s people well. Called by the Carpenter, Rev. Courtney Clayton Jenkins Senior Pastor and Teacher South Euclid United Church of Christ
