All Creatures Great & Small, which aired on BBC One from 1978 to 1990, remains one of Britain’s most cherished drama series. Based on the semi-autobiographical books by James Herriot, it brought to life the trials, triumphs, and quiet joys of rural veterinary life in the Yorkshire Dales between the 1930s and 1950s. In this video, we revisit the classic cast of All Creatures Great & Small — then and now. From Christopher Timothy as James Herriot and Robert Hardy as the ever-demanding Siegfried Farnon, to Peter Davison’s charming Tristan and Lynda Bellingham’s warm portrayal of Helen, we take a look at what became of these much-loved actors. We also explore the show’s wider ensemble, including iconic guest stars and character actors such as Thora Hird, Brian Glover, Patrick Troughton, and Madeline Smith. Some continued to shine on stage and screen, others found new paths, and a few are fondly remembered after passing on. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to the series, this is your chance to step back into Darrowby and catch up with the cast behind the countryside charm. 👉 Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more classic British television retrospectives. ⸻ 🐾 Cast Featured in This Video: Christopher Timothy – James Herriot Robert Hardy – Siegfried Farnon Peter Davison – Tristan Farnon Lynda Bellingham – Helen Herriot Mary Hignett – Mrs. Hall Carol Drinkwater – Helen Alderson John McGlynn – Calum Buchanan Margaretta Scott – Mrs. Pumphrey Andrea Gibb – Deirdre McEwan John Sharp – Mr. Biggins Teddy Turner – Hodgekin Jean Heywood – Mrs. Alton Peter Martin – Handshaw James Grout – Granville Bennett Fred Feast – Jeff Mallock Geoffrey Bayldon – Geoff Hatfield Bryan Pringle – Grimsdale Jack Watson – Cranford Stan Richards – Mr. Dent Steve Halliwell – P.C.
