A contract killer who was arrested for shooting a retired railway employee in Assam’s Hojai district was killed during an encounter with the police on the night of December 11. The deceased has been identified as Mohan Kumar a resident of Bihar. According to the Hojai Superintendent of Police, Barun Purakayastha the police in Lumding town launched a search to recover the pistols used in the incident when Mohan tried to attack at the police with a .32 pistol. He was killed in retaliatory fire. "During the investigation, we got the details and shared them with GRP and we could apprehend them with their active support. When he (Mohan Kumar) was being brought back, he revealed that he had hidden the arms through which the crime had been committed and dropped it in the jungle while he was going back. He mentioned a locally-made arm, but he hid the fact that it was an automated .32 pistol. So when the search was being done he took out the pistol since he knew where it was, and he fired at the police party. Luckily, none of us received injuries but our vehicle was damaged. In retaliatory fire, he was injured and admitted to the hospital. The doctors tried their best, but unfortunately, he lost his life," Purakayastha added during a telephonic conversation with EastMojo. Kumar was arrested along with his associate Saheb Rajak on December 10 for firing upon former railway employee Tarun Chakrabarty on December 9. The hired killers had reportedly received Rs 2 lakh each to eliminate the target. So far 9 people have been arrested in connection with the case. Meanwhile, one Anil Malakar has been named as the main accused in the case and further investigations are underway. #EastMojo #EastStory #NorthEastIndia #assam #hojai #encounter ***** Subscribe: / @eastmojoofficial ***** Visit our website: https://www.eastmojo.com/ Facebook: / eastmojo Twitter: / eastmojo Instagram: / east.mojo *****
