Why A Flail Mower Can't Replace A Bush Hog. Though the flail mower tractor attachment is superior to a bush hog, slasher, rotary cutter in every way but one. But I cannot give up my rotary cutter. In this video I will discuss the material that the flail mower can cut and what brush it can handle, but also a very critical limitation it has for me and others who maintain their property for specific purposes and needs. The Baumalight FMP780 flail mower is a heavy duty purpose build flail mower with 7000 series blades and a gearbox that can handle up to a 110 hp tractor. This tractor attachment is more expensive than most rotary cutters but should quite literally last a lifetime. I have the Baumalight flail mower powered by my TYM 5520ch 55 hp hydrostatic tractor. This tractor is a great pair with the flail mower due to plenty of PTO power, solid lift capacity and cruise control while mowing.
