Canon webcam utility vs Elgato Camlink 4k for Canon T4i - vs Logitech C922 and GoPro Hero 7 Black

Canon released their beta EOS webcam utility that works with many of their DSLR and mirror less cameras. My Canon T4i is not one of the listed supported cameras, but will it work? What about with the Elgato CamLink 4k which also doesn't have the T4i as a compatible camera. What are the limitations? What works? What doesn't? (Since this video came out Canon have moved from Beta and added many more cameras but as of June 20th, 2021 have still not added the T4i - they added the T3i and the T5i many months ago so I do not expect the T4i to ever be fully supported, I suspect it has some hardware limitations) How does it compare to the Logitech C922 and the GoPro Hero 7 Black through the Elgato Camlink 4k? I used the T6i download for my T4i. Thanks to the info from a commenter, I checked out Magic Lantern software for the T4i and was able to get a clean HDMI output from the camera - there are still some limitations but it does make the Camlink a very viable option. You can get the white auto focus tracking box to go away but you still end up with some black bars to fill out a full 1920x1080 frame, but the boxes are smaller, giving more pixels of actual video to use when cropping in. (Let me know in the comments if you would like a video on that setup.) If you are using OBS Studio, you can crop in the input and remove the black bars - since this video came out, OBS Studio added a feature where you can set up your input however you like and then output as a webcam to things like Zoom, etc. This makes the camera more viable as a true webcam. #canonwebcam #elgatocamlink #gopro Music from the YouTube Audio library: Outro: Far Away (Sting) by MK2
