For our friends in the USA, PMR446 is the European answer to your FRS, 500mW, fixed antenna and a small amount of set channels, however PMR446 uses frequencies that in the USA are allocated to Amateur radio. PMR446 radios are obtainable on the high street in the UK from Argos.
