I discuss how a beginner can get started with radio communications, be that straight into the Amateur radio hobby, CB radio or PMR446, as well as a little advice about buying and using cheap radios from China (specifically the Baofeng BF-888 which appears to be common on Amazon & eBay) If you are buying used CB radios from eBay or car boot sales, please refer to page 4 of the Of 364 CB radio guidance document, this is available at this link: https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/asset... For our friends in the USA, PMR446 is the European answer to your FRS, 500mW, fixed antenna and a small amount of set channels, however PMR446 uses frequencies that in the USA are allocated to Amateur radio. PMR446 radios are obtainable on the high street in the UK from Argos. A starter kit for CB is available from Thunderpole, make sure you choose the magnetic mount option for getting on the air in no time, and also ask for a cigarette lighter plug: https://www.thunderpole.co.uk/cb-radi... If you want to get your Amateur radio ticket, check out the RSGB website at https://rsgb.org/main/ and search for your local Amateur radio club. If you are local to Catterick Garrison or the surrounding area I can help you out if you need a CB radio installing in your vehicle or you want to get an Amateur radio licence. All questions in the comments below and I'll get back to you as quick as I can and as best I can. with that I hope to hear you on air soon
