What happens when a wizard hears the words “tight hallway” and “lots of enemies”? Simple. Fireball. This song is inspired by one of the most classic moments in Dungeons & Dragons. The party is trying to be careful, checking for traps, whispering plans… and the wizard decides subtlety isn’t really their thing. Sometimes the best plan is just a really big explosion. Lyrics - Verse 1 We cracked the door to torchlit stone where shadows crawled along, The fighter whispered “Hold the line, something here feels wrong.” The rogue was scanning ceiling traps, the cleric gripped his mace— While someone in the back was smiling with that look upon their face. Pre-Chorus A spark of flame. A whispered call. That grin that always starts it all. Chorus I didn’t ask how big the room was— I said Fireball, let it boom! Let the flames go screaming wide, Burn the shadows where they hide! If the dungeon starts to fall— Well that’s the price of Fireball! When the wizard starts to grin— You know the blast is coming in! Verse 2 The rogue yelled “WAIT!” the fighter ducked, the cleric cursed the air, The goblins barely had a breath before the flames were there. The hallway turned to blazing gold, the ceiling cracked with heat— And someone yelled “Next time perhaps… a spell that’s more discreet!” Pre-Chorus The glow expands. The air grows hot. Too late to stop the spell once wrought. Bridge Smoke rolled thick across the stone, the fighter coughed and swore, The rogue just stared at scorch marks where the door had been before. The cleric sighed and brushed off ash, then muttered with a groan— “Next time warn us… just a little… before you cook us all.” Final Chorus I didn’t ask how big the room was— I said Fireball, let it boom! Let the flames go screaming wide, Burn the shadows where they hide! Let the taverns shout it all— Never doubt the Fireball! When the wizard starts to grin— You know the blast is coming in!
