This is a shame because it can be a very effective way to create landscape photos with drama and impact. This video tutorial explains how. Importantly, rather than focusing on fashion and beauty retouching, we look at how to apply it to Landscape Photography. After explaining what Frequency Separation is, we look at two methods of applying it in Photoshop. First, we use it to create amazing sharpness in a sunrise landscape photo. Then we use it to apply a dramatic Orton effect to the same image. By combining these two techniques and a couple of simple masks we can enhance the landscape photograph to create a much more appealing scene.
