Here I solo hike up to Monte Cristo Ghost Town & Glacier Basin. There was some beautiful scenery on this adventure, but I was in for a very hot and smoky day in the North Cascades. September is definitely not the most optimal time to hike in the area. I didn’t see very many people on this adventure, and saw no one passed the ghost town. This made the glacier basin area a serene experience, though it was somewhat difficult. The old miners trail up to the basin is very rugged. Though it was much worse for the miners back in the day who had to carry all their stuff. It’s cool to imagine what it was like for them to mine in the basin and get the minerals down to the town. Must’ve been a rugged life, but it sure is a beautiful place to work in. I’ll have to come back someday and try and find some of the abandoned mines that lie in the basin. Great adventure, if you like history. Visit glacier basin if you’re up for the steep trek and further mileage. It would best be done as a backpacking trip so you could spend more time exploring the basin. It would also just be an awesome experience because of the solitude. Thanks for watching!
