This video marks the first release in a special series from Introduction & Celebration: Rothko Chapel President Abdullah Antepli, an open and interfaith gathering held at the Rothko Chapel. In this opening moment, we share a performance of Shehechayanu performed by Cantor Rollin Simmons of Congregation Emanu El, a sacred Jewish blessing traditionally sung to honor reaching a meaningful and historic moment. The blessing reflects gratitude, presence, and renewal—setting the spiritual tone for the beginning of a new chapter at the Rothko Chapel. The program celebrated the appointment of Abdullah Antepli, a globally recognized leader in interfaith dialogue and cross-cultural engagement. Guests gathered for an interfaith service and festive introduction, learning more about the Chapel’s evolving vision and future initiatives. Imam Antepli joined the Rothko Chapel in September 2025 after distinguished leadership roles at Duke University, where he served as the university’s first Muslim chaplain and later as a senior academic leader in public policy and interfaith relations. He is also a senior fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute and co-founder of the Muslim Leadership Initiative. This series documents moments from the celebration that reflect the Rothko Chapel’s mission of spiritual reflection, interfaith understanding, human rights, and social justice. 📌 Watch the full series and subscribe for upcoming videos from this historic gathering.
