Ernesto moved from sunny L.A. to join Christina and her daughter Alyssa in Denver Colorado. They became a family on April 26th, 2008. As Alyssa got ready for college, Ernie & Christina started saving for a house and planning for the future. The way any young couple would. Alyssa moved to Arizona and for awhile everything seemed on track. Then on Christmas day 2010 after midnight mass Christina found a lump in her right breast. She knew right away it was cancer. She was so young (36 at the time) the doctors were not so sure. It was cancer. Triple Negative breast cancer to be exact. She tried ALTERNATIVE treatments for 11 months only to have to tumor return twice and ultimately had to submit to conventional treatments. She did chemo, radiation & surgery. Unfortunately after all that the cancer returned in the summer of 2013. The story doesn't end there though! In the middle of all that Ernie & Christina had a surprise baby. In April of 2013 Christina found out she was seven months pregnant. She had no idea! All the side effects she was having her doctor said was b/c of the cancer treatments. Christina delivered a very healthy miracle baby girl on May 5th 2013. Despite all of the toxic drugs she was exposed to she is fine. Very healthy. Baby Ava has brought light to a dark situation.
