I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season, whatever this time of year means to you. 🎄📖 For me, the mince pies are out, a little Amarula might find its way into the hot chocolate, and family-favourite movies and books are queued up and ready to go. Speaking of which... In this special Christmas video, I print and hand-bind The Chimes by Charles Dickens, a story Dickens wrote as a companion piece to A Christmas Carol. This volume is created as a gift for the Plantation House Library on St Helena, using traditional bookbinding techniques inspired by 19th-century craftsmanship. The video shows the entire bookbinding process from start to finish, including printing, folding, sewing, covering, and finishing the book. The build is presented as a calm, uninterrupted visual experience, set to gentle instrumental Christmas music - perfect for viewers who enjoy relaxing, process-focused craft videos. If you’re interested in traditional bookbinding, historical bindings, handmade books, or the enduring legacy of Charles Dickens, this video offers a quiet, festive look at how classic literature can be transformed into a lasting physical object. I'll be creating and making classic literature files available, for a modest fee, on my Patreon page.
