This song came from a burning desire to encourage the church to stand firm in Christ. It starts with gratitude for what God has done for us and how he has adopted us as His own children! Then it moves into a realization that there is work to be done as we grow in Christ, essentially the process of sanctification; that we must mature in Christ’s Likeness. The 3rd verse reminds the believer that we will face adversity and that we are constantly in battle of the ways and views of this world, but we must remain steadfast in God’s truth and that His ways are higher than our own! The Choruses and Bridge is our proclamation of our dedication to Him! We are Confident in His Word and in His Love that we are prepared to go against the grain when we face trials of many kinds! I believe the message of this song ties in well with the heart of James 1, which I encourage you to meditate on!
