The Public Health Institute at Denver Health (PHIDH) is proud to host Dr. William Wei for a lunch and learn in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPI). AAPI Heritage Month is a time to celebrate our AAPI neighbors and community and it is more important than ever in light of increasing incidents of anti-Asian violence. This presentation, titled “What you always wanted to know about AAPI’s but were afraid to ask,” will highlight and celebrate the AAPI contributions to Colorado/the U.S., and discuss the recurring instances of violence and inequities that persist. About Dr. William Wei: William Wei, Ph.D., is a Professor of History at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Editor-in-Chief of the Colorado Encyclopedia, and a member of the State Historians Council. He specializes in the histories of modern China, Asian America, and Colorado. The Colorado Sun selected his Asians in Colorado as one of the 50 best books about the American West. His latest work is Becoming Colorado: The Centennial State in 100 Objects. He was the 2019-2020 Colorado State Historian and a recipient of the 2022 Asian American Hero of Colorado award from the Colorado Asian Culture and Education Network.
