The Whitehouse has a white paper posted about marijuana legalization. It is highly deceptive, inaccurate, and written by corporate handlers at Rand Corp. It claims marijuana is harmful without citing a single scientific study. It claims legal marijuana will lower the cost and thereby increase availability, but it fails to mention how more high school kids use weed than cigarettes. It claims it would burden our jails by noting 750 thousand were arrested for possession in 2008, But it omits the social cost of burdening that many people with a criminal record. It claims legalization won't reduce violence because marijuana only provides a portion of cartel revenue, But it omits its own finding that weed makes up 60% of cartel revenue.
