This video highlights three checkmate patterns that you HAVE to know: Anastasia's mate, Damiano's mate, and Max Lange's mate. These mating nets appear both in real games and in tactical puzzles, so study these patterns so you never miss them! Anastasia's mate features the knight that traps the king on an open line, which is then checkmated by the queen or rook. Damiano's mate features a pawn that traps the king on the back rank, which is then mated by the queen protected by that pawn. Finally, Max Lange's mate features a bishop and queen mating pattern that traps the king, and the queen delivers checkmate supported by the bishop.
