Contrairement à la plupart des villages provençaux, Valbonne a été construit sur un quadrillage, orthogonal défini par les moines de Lérins. Sa forme rectangulaire s'inspire clairement du plan des camps romains et le village est limité par les "murs de la maison" et comprend une entrée dans chacun de ses quatre côtés. 🔵⚪️🔴 The name of Valbonne ("Vallis Bona" - the Good Valley) appears for the first time in the 13th century with the founding of a monastery on land offered to the Abbey of Prada. Unlike most Provençal villages, Valbonne was built on a grid pattern, orthogonal set by the monks of Lerins.
