Netanyahu was speaking to Jewish donors from the United States at the King David hotel in Jerusalem. The takeover in Ras al-Amoud, a Palestinian neighbourhood at the foot of the Mount of Olives, was also denounced during a demonstration by Israeli activists of the left-wing Peace Now movement. Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy met with US Ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk and briefed him on his earlier meeting with Miguel Moratinos, the European Union's Middle East envoy.
