Here are my likes of the Ztrail: • SUPER COMFORTABLE. The thin foam molds to the foot to give greater comfort over time and the soft nylon is gentle on the skin. • These are my go-to casual sandal. • Super lightweight • Wide footbed to allow for fat feet like mine. • Thin sole to allow for good ground feel. • Aesthetically pleasing and stand out less than the Huarache style Bedrocks. • No thong between the toes • Can wear with normal socks in the cooler months (chicks dig dudes with sandals and socks . . . .) • Nice for road running Here are my Critiques of the Ztrails: • Poor traction on wet terrain. The rubber portion of the sole provides only a fair coefficient of friction on wet rocks and the foam portion of the sole performs very poorly on wet rocks. • When the foot is wet, the foot slides around on the foot bed. There is a poor coefficient of friction between the foam footbed and the skin when the sandal is wet and so the foot slides around. With no toe loop or thong to keep the foot in place, the foot slides in the sandal when wet. This is not much of an issue when using the sandal for casual wear, but when hiking or trail running, it is a big problem. Bedrock Cairn Pro: https://bedrocksandals.com/collection... This is the link for the version 2. With some searching, you can find the version one model which is cheaper and the sandal I reviewed in this video. The main difference is the heel strap on the version 1 is Velcro whereas on the version 2, it is a hook and loop closure. The benefit to the hook and loop closure is that it will not wear out whereas Velcro can with repeated fastening and unfastening of the Velcro. I hardly adjust the Velcro on my pair and so far, they have no issues with wear. I prefer the Bedrock Pro Models because they have the Sticky Vibram MegaGrip which performs amazingly on the trails. I do not like any support and so don’t go with their 3D models, which have a molded foot bed and minor support. Here are my likes of the Bedrocks: • Amazing performance on the trail • Easy to adjust, 3 point adjustment strapping system. Many huarache style sandals are a pain to adjust to a snug and comfortable fit. The 3 points of adjustment make fitting the sandal to your foot super easy. • Vibram MegaGrip lives up to its name on natural terrain like wet rocks and dirt. It is made for the trail and out performs most other rubber soles I have used. (The MegaGrip is only found on the Pro models.) • Foot bed performs well keeping the foot in place even on wet terrain • The sandals are indestructible and will last YEARS. They can also be resoled by sending them back to Bedrock. • Relatively thin, but firm sole to allow for good protection against tough jagged rocks. The sole allows for fairly good ground feel, but has excellent protection. • Performs well when wet or dry. Here are my critiques of the Bedrdocks: • Nylon straps are a bit rough and not as soft as the Xero Z Trail sandals. • Thong can get somewhat irritating when walking across hills as it pulls on the inner portion of the big toe. (The thong did not bother me going down hills, just across them) • Although more protective for the trails, the sole is less minimalist than the Z trail (14mm on the Bedrocks vs 10mm on the Ztrails). I prefer this thicker, stiffer sole for the trail, but not for regular casual use. • Heavier compared to the Z trail, but this is because of the MegaGrip rubber and the indestructible nature of this sandal. • The foot bed could be wider.
