Hiking in Zion National Park | Post-PCT Roadtrip (Part 3) | Observation Point | Cable Mountain

After driving over 1,000 miles from Oregon, I finally reached Utah and made my way to my first stop - Zion National Park. I stayed at a Motel in the town of Hurricane, about a 45 minute drive from the Park. Normally, I'd drive to the town of Springdale on the edge of the Park, and take the shuttle bus into the main canyon. This time though, I decided to explore a different part of the Park that I'd not seen before - the Eastern side. I drove the extremely scenic Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway and eventually got to the East Mesa trailhead by way of a rough dirt road. From there, I hiked the roughly 3.5 miles to Observation Point - a dramatic viewpoint offering a breathtaking view down Zion's main Canyon. After hiking back to my vehicle, I drove to the Cable Mountain trailhead and had a great hike to the Cable Mountain viewpoint - a dramatic sheer drop straight down to the canyon floor.
