In 1844 in Persia, a young man proclaimed Himself to be the beginning of the fulfillment of prophecies held in common by many religions. Siyyid ‘Alí-Muhammad, known by his title, “the Báb” (which in Arabic means “the Gate”), announced the dawn of a new stage in humanity’s development, a stage of the recognition of the oneness of mankind, of unity and justice. He alluded to himself as the forerunner of another to come immediately after him. He and His followers were violently opposed and persecuted, and the Báb himself was martyred in 1850. Prior to his execution, a tribunal of religious judges demanded that he formally state His claim. This song is based on the words He shared on that occasion. © You are welcome to use this video for any Holy Day Program such as: the Declaration of the Báb, the birth of the Báb, the Martyrdom of the Báb, etc.
