Hollywood has had its fair share of historically troubled productions. Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster, but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs. In our latest episode we examine the tragic circumstances around the 1994 adaptation of James O'Barr's cult classic comic book, The Crow, which starred Brandon Lee in the title role and was directed by Alex Proyas. It was also the film that claimed his life after a tragic accident on a set riddled with issues from the start. After his death, it was unclear if the movie would ever see the light of day, but a number of circumstances finally brought it to theaters, creating a lasting legacy for Lee and the only filmed version of the character to leave a lasting impression on audiences, despite a number of sequels and even a short-lived TV series.
