For Foreshew Design Associates’ Design Principal, Alex Foreshew, architecture has always been more than just a profession — it’s a lifelong passion. From his early days in college, he was drawn to the intricate design elements that shape the built environment of private residential homes. This passion took him across Canada, where he moved to British Columbia to establish the design department at Canadian Timber Frames, refining his expertise in timber construction and residential design. As he continued to grow in the field, Alex sought out architects who shared his vision for private residential homes. His career took a pivotal turn when he collaborated with Kelly & Stone Architects, a firm he had long admired. After successfully bringing a project to life in Bowling Green, KY, he received a call from Kelly & Stone Architects' Partner, Tim Stone, inviting him to Steamboat Springs, CO. This opportunity led him deeper into the world of high-end residential architecture, eventually taking him to California and further honing his skills in design and project execution. Now, with over 150 projects completed under Foreshew Design Associates, Alex embarks on a deeply personal project — designing and building a home for himself and his future family in Port Carling. This project is called: Tiehack Haus. Designing Tiehack Haus is a short film that tells the story of his journey, the lessons Alex has learned along the way, and the inspiration behind this meaningful project.
